Our choice operator offers safe, exciting and memorable flights from Airfields in Tarlton. All necessary licenses are in place - SACAA Licence Numbers & Operating Certificate, rest assured the operators have been manufacturing, maintaining, operating and training on Thunderbird for the past twenty years. Thunderbird is a fine aircraft with an impeccable track record, it is a two seater side-by-side, full-three-axis microlight aeroplane. This means the aircraft operates the same as any normal aeroplane, only a lot lighter.
Summary of your Magalies Microlight schedule:
- Meet at the airfield in tarlton at a time convenient to you, where you can enjoy a cup of tea/coffee while The Aircraft Team brief you on the “Do’s & Don’ts” of Thunderbird Flying and rules for the “Flour Bombing Competition”.
- After the briefing, everyone participating in the flight will be required to sign one of our indemnity forms and write their names on their “Flour Bombs”.
- After the signing session we are ready to let the actual FLYING begin.
- As we accelerate along the runway, the butterflies in your stomach grow in anticipation, in a moment we’re travelling at 40mph, the aircraft lifts off and all your work related stresses are blown away. As we climb to a height of around 1000ft above the ground the realization of our beautiful country comes to mind, a view of the Cradle Of Humankind and Magaliesberg mountain range like you’ve never seen before exposed below.
- The flight will last approximately 15-minutes and this includes the “Bomb Drop”.
- After the flight, sit back, relax, watch and listen to the fellow trainees as they take to the sky.
- Once everyone is finished flying it is time for the prize giving ceremony.
- A certificate to commemorate your Thunderbird microlight flight will be presented to you.
- The “Bomber Of The Day” for the most accurate bombing skills will receive a Thunderbird trophy and will be entered into the “DAC Grand Champion Bomber Of The Year” competition to be hosted by DAC.
Important Information:
- There is no prescribed level of fitness required, but there is a weight limit of 120kg per person.
- Dress for the weather, normally good to bring a jacket for cooler altitudes
- Experiences are offered every day of the week - ALL DAY, weather permitting.
- Should the flights be cancelled due to bad weather, we will reschedule.
