The Authentic Wildlife Safari on the last 3 nights of this tour offers 3 choices to include. We have listed the standard option at a traditional 4 star safari lodge.

However there is an option to upgrade to a Luxury tented lodge, alternatively a 5 Star Lodge in the Mashatu Game Reserve. There prices are available on request from the African Chapter Tours Team.

Your Tour of Discovery, entails the following itinerary:

Day 1:  Overnight 5 star accommodation in The Cradle of Humankind, one of the world`s most famous heritage sites.

Morning arrival in Johannesburg at approximately 8h30. You will be met on arrival by our representatives and welcomed to South Africa! We depart for our transfer toa 5 Star Boutique Hotel, situated in the Cradle of Humankind, Gauteng. Check in for a scrumptious breakfast and prepare for the day ahead.

Depart for the Maropeng Museum, enjoying the evolutionary facilities and move onto the Sterkfontein Caves a few kilometers away for an informative view on ancestry during your first morning.

A light Lunch will be served at your private dig session, before we visit the nearby african cultural village for an evening of education and entertainment, along with a superb atmosphere whilst sampling traditional cuisine. 

Overnight in the uniquely designed luxury suites, with roof covered in african veld, allowing for an almost cave like experience!

Day 2: Overnight in this gem of the Cradle of Humankind

Breakfast at the 5 Star Boutique Hotel on the terrace with tranquil views.

Today we will have our first educational encounters with various african animals, namely lion (handling lion cubs)  elephantgiraffe and the crocodile.

A memorable lunch date awaits you, as you are offered to dine in the open sided boma restaurant overlooking the Elephants you would have been educated all about! The hand in trunk interactive programme will be a truly sensational animal encounter.

Return to the boutique hotel and afford the opportunity to freshen up and relax before a sensational dinner at a Restaurant, renowned as one of Johannesburg’s top fine dining restaurants and invited to a 5 course meal.

Day 3: Overnight at a Game Reserve at the foothill of the wonders of the Waterberg Mountains.

Breakfast on the terrace of the unique boutique hotel. All the while you are accompanied by your guide who shares this hidden masterpiece with you.

Depart after breakfast as we travel north toward Lephelale,  (Approximately a 4 hour drive). Arrival at the lodge, with the rooms lined with original paintings, masks and artifacts, with the lodge itself nestled amongst indigenous thorn trees, towering palms and Marula trees. You are welcomed with drinks on arrival together with a leisurely lunch.

Check in to your room and prepare to enjoy a schooling interaction along with dinner in the company of authentic Bushman, a taste of their traditional storytelling – a unique form of entertainment.

Day 4: Second Overnight in the malaria free area near Lephale. 

Early morning wake up call and 05h30 depart for our transfer to experience and educate around the traditions of the local people. This is created by a Morning Ga-bobidi Walking Safari, where we learn about the ancient trade routes and interesting pots which have been created in and around the area over 600 years ago.

At approximately 11h00 we return to the Ga-Bobidi base for a delicious breakfast. Returning to the lodge for some time to unwind and relax, enjoy a swim and the watering hole a few metres away, as the chance of game drinking reveals itself during your Authentic African Journey. Lunch snacks will be served and time for an afternoon siesta if you so wish!

High Tea is served at 16h00, before we set out for a Rhino Walking Safari. Here you will learn about one of the illustrious big 5 of Africa, in an experience by foot.

A bush dinner will be prepared after sunset and your own special story telling sessions await you on discussing the sightings of the afternoon. 

As the evening sets in the weaving pathways of the lodge light up to a night of magic and the possible call of the resident Pearl Spotted Owl could be heard in the stillness!

Day 5: Overnight in a Lakeside Lodge in  the "Land of Legends"  in the Heart of ancient Venda.

Breakfast on the pool deck at 7 am, before check out and departure to our next stop to the Venda Artist Route.
Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon discovering the arts and cultures of the area. Visit with a local musician. Unwind and delightful Dinner at the Lodge, set against a backdrop of Mountains and Forests, Holy Lakes and sacred ruins in the Heart of Ancient Venda. 

Day 6: Overnight at a Tuli Block Safari Lodge

Brunch at the lodge. This morning we learn about pot making, watch these modern ladies creating pots the traditional way by hand as they did thousands of years ago. Visit true African galleries and spend the morning with these Venda artists in the area.

Check out before we make way by road transfer to Botswana Border as we enter into the Tuli Block.

Check in and enjoy an afternoon high tea at the Lodge and excellent game viewing opportunities, followed by a safari dinner.

Day 7: Second Overnight in Botswana 

A typical day in the Game Reserve awaits you, including all meals, as well as sunrise and sunset game drives in BIG 5 territory.

Day 8: Third overnight in the Tuli Block, Safari Lodge

Early Morning and Evening Game Drives. Breakfast and the opportunity of Game Viewing activities or some relaxation time to soak in the sunshine and watch the natural wildlife environment. Meet for dinner and enjoy the conversations of the days encounters with your guide and company. 

Day 9: Johannesburg

After an early morning game drive and bush breakfast, check out as we make our way back in to South Africa towards OR Tambo Airport for your onward flights home or further travel itineraries with Africa.

Farewell Mama Africa - Miriam Makeba...


Miriam Makeba, Africa`s most celebrated singer, and the first black African woman to win a Grammy Award, has died. Makeba`s business affairs manager Graham Gilfillan confirmed yesterday morning that the legendary singer died of a heart attack in the early hours of yesterday morning near the southern Italian town of Caserta after a performance. According to Gilfillan, Makeba was with her grandson who called him yesterday morning to inform him of the singer`s death. Makeba, 76, died overnight after taking part in a concert for Roberto Saviano, a writer threatened with death by the Mafia, the Ansa news agency said.
