Become a Guide

Become part of the African Chapter team as a qualified guide. Sign up to accompany guests on their travels through Southern Africa. Or do relief period work at lodges affiliated to our company. Guides should have good knowledge of local culture, fauna and flora, wildlife and guiding techniques. They should also be inspiring, enthusiastic and have good interpersonal skills.

Alternatively, sign up to become a freelance guide. This will give guests access to your profile and enable them to book their own personal guide to accompany them through South Africa.

African Chapter is also offering a program for volunteers who are looking for diverse working experience. The Kalahari Conservation Experience is a program where volunteers live and work on a reserve in the North Western Cape province in South Africa. It lies on the edge of the southern most part of the mysterious desert wilderness of the great Kalahari Desert, which spreads north into Botswana.

David Worral - Profile

Qualified Guide Profile : David Worral

I have been guiding for eight years, specialising in dangerous game areas. Based in the Kwa Zulu Natal Midlands I do tours all over the province that are focused on true nature experience.

The areas that I operate in range from classic Big Five Reserves to smaller nature conservancies and privately owned natural areas. For an all-round experience in the bush, Kwa-Zulu Natal offers everything and much more.

Mpumalanga, the Northwest and Northern Provinces are areas that I have previously worked in, and in which I still operate frequently.

My preference is the interpretation of entire eco-systems as opposed to concentrating one aspect of an eco-system only.

Carl Walker - Profile

Qualified Guide Profile : Carl Walker

With over three decades of field experience, eighteen of which has been in the eco tourism industry, he has plenty to offer anyone interested in conservation. He has lived, worked and travelled extensively in some of the greatest wildlife destinations in Africa including East Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa.
