Nestled in the remote northern area of the reserve lies Mashatu Tent Camp. Mashatu "land of the Giants" is the largest private game reserve in Southern Africa, featuring seven of Africa`s iconic giants: including elephant and lion. One of the most exciting, diverse aand unexplored regions in Southern Africa. Mashatu is a well-spring for wildlife, archaeology and adventure. Based at the confluence of Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe, Mashatu offers a distinctive view of Africa,complemented with its unique adventure activities.
This idyllic getaway provides accommodation in the form of eight twin tents. Although rustic in character every facility is provided. The tents are insect-proofed, have comfortable beds and each has an en-suite shower and W.C. facility. There is an open sided thatch deck where meals are served and a traditional boma for intimate campfire dinners. This camp also contains a very welcome plunge pool. Your total comfort is the priority of your hosts. While on game drives, you will be taken care of by your ranger and on your return, the camp staff will gladly attend to your every need.

ECO TOURISM EFFORTS
Research and Conservation Projects at Mashatu Game Reserve.
A research program which incorporates scientists into the operation to study aspects important to the protection and conservation of the area in a on going active which will change from time to time as researchers complete their different studies.
The following projects are currently active at Mashatu:
- Central Limpopo Valley Elephant Research Project
- Mashatu Predator Research Program
- Limpopo / Shashe Trans Frontier Conservation Area (TFCA)
- Mashatu Archaeological and Historical Sites
- Arachnid Project
- Botswana Cheetah Conservation Program
Mashatu now offers Ivory and Predator Drives to guests staying at Mashatu Main and Tent Camp, allowing guests the opportunity to have a hands-on experience in wildlife research, and gain in depth knowledge of the animals under study. As these project are a concession to the researchers enabling them to fund their studies, an extra fee is charged to participate.
