Shamwari Game Reserve, the malaria free, private game reserve situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

It is situated in the verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, a pleasant drive from Cape Town, forming a natural extension to the famous Garden Route. Shamwari is about conserving a vanishing way of life. Steeped in Pioneer history, and dating back to the time when a multitude of game roamed wild and free, the reserve boasts five eco-systems, thus enabling the support of many forms of plant, animal and bird life. Shamwari`s highly trained game rangers, with skilled service staff will ensure a memorable adventure, personalised to your needs.

Tucked deep in the valley bushveld, this thatched ethnically decorated lodge offers guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway. The five luxury rooms are en-suite, with air-conditioning and heating, whilst the Chief suite boasts a large private lounge with fireplace and pool.

Lobengula Lodge serves lavish meals either on the main deck or in the outside boma. A selection of fine South African wines from its cellar and well-trained staff ensure a high quality of service and satisfaction. After a game drive guests can relax, swim or enjoy a drink at the pool bar. The magnificent wooden deck overlooking the dense African bush is beautifully appointed for meals or mystical African storytelling in front of the fireplace. Guests are also invited to pamper themselves in the spa or workout in the gym.

We also have a bush lapa available to ensure your experience one true of the Valley Bushveld tranquility on offer at Shamwari Game Reserve. Accommodation is available in African thatch suites with private verandas overlooking the wild African bushveld. The Chief Suite offers a private pool, and the Junior suites (only 2 at this stage) offers pools. Satellite TV is available in all the rooms, as welll as indoor and outdoor showers, similiarly air-conditioning, and ceiling fans are also available and contained within each suite.

Facilities and Services at Lobengula include a Spa with 2 Treatment Rooms, Steam Room, Sauna and a Swimming pool with sunken cocktail bar for those relaxing sundowners wading in the water. Small Fitness Room for those wishing to exert some energy and a Wine cellar for those more interested in some conversation over good South African wine.

The Boma, Dining Room and Deck offer another view of this experience all to be enjoyed with the staff and team at Lobengula Lodge. Your personal ranger service allows only 6 guests per vehicle for concentrated game viewing experiences and the Perimeter electric fence ensures that the safety of your visit is of utmost importance to this team. • Long Lee Manor , offers a distinctive Colonial experience in a restored Edwardian Manor house. Long Lee Manor also has a spa.

• Riverdene Lodge is a restored settler`s lodge with 9 suites, all en-suite with air-conditioning, Satellite TV, telephone and small lounge area.
• The ethnically decorated Lobengula Lodge with its thatched roofs is tucked deep in the valley bushveld. It offers 12 guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway as well as a wellness centre.
• Bayethe Tented Camp is a 5-star, luxury lodge comprising of 9-tented suites.
