The towering Drakensberg Mountains provide a majestic backdrop for this 16 bedded camp, affording you accommodation of true African style. Jackalberry is a 5 star luxury game lodge with plenty of wild, roaming game to keep your mind wandering and your eyes amazed at the behavioural patterns of the creatures that roam the Thornybush Reserve.

The luxury accommodation, creates a restful ethnic ambience in harmony with nature. Attention to detail and true South African hospitality will charm guests and leave them with a true sense of real beauty and warmth. Every sense is indulged in the 5 chalet style bush rooms with en-suite bathroom, air conditioning and patios offering comfort and sheer decadence with an African flair.

For the family the lodge offers a family chalet which comprises of 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom and not to forget the special honeymoon chalet that offers a romantic bush touch! 

Your typical day begins...... with a morning game drive in open safari vehicles guided by highly trained rangers and trackers. More than sixty species of wildlife can be found in the immediate vicinity of the lodge, including lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, elephant, hyena and cheetah.Tea, coffee, rusks, muffins and croissants are provided on the morning game drive and various savoury snacks on the evening game drive.

After your game drive, you can look forward to a wonderful bush brunch. An intimate table setting for two to sixteen, awaits you! Later, relax on your patio or by the swimming pool, while enjoying the tranquil setting and indulge in afternoon tea.

Afternoon game drives offer additional opportunities to view wildlife and more than 280 species of birds and a high tea is served prior to the afternoon/evening game drive to keep the hunger roars at bay.

Evenings are filled with sumptuous 3 course dinners to be enjoyed "al fresco" at the "boma" or inside near the fire. Relax with new-found friends amidst the understated luxury and restful ethnic ambience which blend harmoniously with nature at the Jackalberry Lodge.

In summer (October to March) temperatures range from 16°C to 38°C and in Winter (May, June & July) from 5°C to 26°C. Summer days and nights are generally hot and humid outdoors while Winter days are mild and very comfortable with evenings and early mornings being cold. The Lowveld has summer rainfall. Please note that this is a MALARIA area and precautionary measures are recommended when visiting Jackalberry Lodge or the Thornybush Reserve.

Rates

Jackalberry Bush Chalet or Family Room

1 May to 30 August 2009 R2200 per person sharing per night.

1 September 2008 to April/September and October 2009 - R2 850 per person sharing per night.

01 November 2009 to 30 April 2010 and September to October 2010 - R3100 per person sharing per night.

May to August 2010: R2350 per adult sharing.

Single room occupancy and child rates are available on request.

Jackalberry Rates Includes:

• Three meals per day served at the lodge
• Morning and Evening Game drives in open land rover, 2 activities per nights stay 

Jackalberry Rate Excludes:

• All items of a personal nature required during your stay at Jackalberry Lodge
• All Beverages and Drinks other than the available bottled water
• Transport to / from the lodge. Transfers are available on request at an additional cost.
