Full Description

Italian born architect Enrico Daffonchio designed The Outpost. The Lodge was designed using  simple, clean lines and combining elements of steel, concrete and open space, the unashamedly contemporary design of The Outpost emphasizes its beautiful surrounds but blends and preserves the wilderness that is its home. The designer behind the scenes is Italian born architect Enrico Daffonchio.

The Outpost comprises one large main building and twelve stand-alone living spaces set on the side of a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River, all connected by a half kilometre long walkway made of Zimbabwean teak. Their is no- airconditioning in the Main Building, but spaces are cooled effectively by an environmentally friendly evaporative cooling system.

On arrival guests are welcomed into the Main Building and are treated to the openness and extensive views that embody The Outpost. The modern bar is a focal point and defines the lounge and dining areas. The lounge is flanked by a large book case with an extensive and varied selection of books. This area leads off to the swimming pool deck with large lap pool.

The living area of each space (suite) comprises of an outdoor terrace with a daybed, indoor lounge and bedroom with king size bed under mosquito netting. The award-winning en-suite bathrooms offer full views of the surrounding bushveld, or can be screened off for privacy. Goose down duvets and imported French L`Occitane bathroom amenities add a touch of luxury to your comfort.

To experience and absorb the true splendour and beauty of the Pafuri region one has to do so on foot. The most beautiful and breathtaking areas of this vast region are largely inaccessible by vehicle. Coming into contact with the larger and smaller mammals whilst on foot is a truly humbling experienceTrails will be conducted by qualified and experienced guides and will leave in the early morning and late afternoon either from the lodge or a designated venue to which you will be driven in a 4 x 4 vehicle.

Despite its remote location, The Outpost strives to provide excellent cuisine, drawing a style of food from its African surroundings. Taking care to source the best produce whether available locally or flown in fresh from Johannesburg.  There are a variety of places to dine at The Outpost. Breakfast is served under cover in the dining area in the main building with views of the Luvuvhu River Valley. Lunch is either served in the dining area or, depending on your length of stay, a picnic lunch is prepared and served out on safari at the riverside or under the Baobabs. Dinner is either eaten in the enclosed courtyard under the stars or on the deck next to the pool.

The Outpost is within close proximity to Pafuri Gate of the Kruger National Park (the most northern gate in the famous National Park). Please take note that although the route is shorter via the Kruger National Park, the speed limit is 50 kms per hour, making the driving time much longer. Skukuza is situated a total of 380 kms from Pafuri! We would advise you to leave Skukuza as early as possible. Have breakfast at Satara and lunch at either Mopani or Shingwedzi Camps, depending on the time. Lunch at the Outpost is generally served between 14h00 and 16h00. Via Pietersburg (Polokwane) and Louis Trichardt (Makhado)
