In 1992, Madikwe Game Reserve, created from 75,000 ha of farmland, which had been extensively degraded by overgrazing, was chosen as the site of Operation Phoenix. The government-sponsored, biggest-ever game- relocation programme in Africa involved re-stocking and conserving flora and wildlife, which had long since disappeared from the region. Ten thousand animals of 27 major species, including wild dog, cheetah, lion, white and black rhino, buffalo and elephant, have been re-introduced to the Reserve over a six year period with animals coming from various reserves and breeding centres. Tau Game Lodge built in 1995 is privately owned and ovelooks a vast natural waterhole, attracting a variety of game.

Situated at an easy 4 hours driving distance from Johannesburg or 50 minutes daily scheduled flight from Johannesburg International airport, Tau "The Place of the Lion" can host and accommodate up to 60 people. This luxury South African safari lodge was designed to reflect the natural surroundings and makes use of the natural resources wherever possible.

The main body of the Lodge is two-leveled and has a comfortable lounge, a conference room, bar and dining room which are semi open-air and overlook the waterhole. Delicious buffet breakfasts and lunches are generally served in the main building or on the verandah next to the plunge pool and dinner is served in one of the cosy boma`s under the stars, or in the lapa next to the main lodge.

The lodge is decorated with unusual African artifacts, masks and large rugs are decorating the high-ceilinged foyer and vivid animal-print fabrics brighten the settees in the upside bar.Delicious buffet breakfasts and lunches are generally served in the main building or on the verandah next to the pool.

Each chalet has its own wooden deck, which allows one to experience the bush in privacy and is equipped with an en-suite bathroom and open-air shower. Each of the two corner units, on either side (and furthest away from) the lodge, have been linked with the next-door unit by a communal outdoor lounge. These chalets can be utilised for two couples travelling together or for parents with small children sharing the room.

A range of massages is available to reduce tension and relieve the cumulative effects of everyday stress. The Moya treatment products unlock the properties of Fynbos and other indigenous botanicals, distilled from the finest plant extracts and essential oils to bring you the energy, vitality and natural goodness of Africa in its purest form. Moya is vegetable oil based, thus containing no mineral oils, has no added colorants or artificial fragrances, does not diminish the skin`s natural acidic mantle and is not tested on animals. Moya products also do not contain any materials of animal origin and are preservative free as much as possible.

Th extensively trained Spa therapists are specialised in treatments ranging from authentic African treatments to specialised hydrotherapy treatments. Guests can create their own Spa experience or choose from specially designed Spa package options.

The Nomadic Pride Packages (for Groups) are especially designed to be included as part of a Conference/ Incentive Group itinerary to rejuvenate and energise the delegates. With time being valuable during conferences, the treatment options have been specialy chosen to fit into 60 min and 90 min slots. Only group bookings of minimum 10 guests are eligible for Nomadic Pride Packages and time-slots will be arranged with the conference itinerary in mind and can include after hour bookings.

Please note that Spa guests must bring their bathing costumes for all hydro treatments; i.e. steam and hydro bath facilities.

Kids Programme at Tau:

The lodge offers Family friendly childrens programmes together with your Family accommodation. Children between 3 and 5 years automatically become Tau Cubz Club, which includes a short game drive after breakfast just for their enjoyment. After their game drives children are entertained with treasure hunts and arts and craft activities. The Children are privided with their own Cubz Club ackpacks, which are filled with a wildlife activity booklet, including an animal sticker checklist, a deputy ranger sticker badge and certificate and special t - shirt. Further additional Cubz entertainment options are sold in the curio shop from puzzles to interactive CD`s. Children between 6 abd 11 years can join th adult safaris and will be included in the Special Cubz Club activity booklet and may join their younger siblings in all the Tau Cubz Club activities.The chef offers additional child friendly food to compliment the adult meals.

Tau Convention Centre

The main hall of this South African conference venue (270m² in total) is made up of three sub-halls, each of which can operate independently or together via a touch-screen control system. (11m x7.6 m each). High quality, strategically placed equipment has been installed in the 3 sub-halls and all systems have been integrated and configured to maximize performance and enhance aesthetic qualities.

Custom designed floor panels have been installed into all 3 sub-halls with connections for computers and other electronic equipment. A conference one delegate microphone system is available for each sub-hall. Standard equipment includes - Internet, DSTV, DVD and CD.

The convention centre also has its own facilities and is equipped with Kitchen, Bar, Lapa, Ordinary and wheelchair-friendly toilets. These are all easily accessible in the main building of the convention center as well as alongside the breakaway rooms. Each of the 3 breakaway rooms are 5.5m x 4m in size and are able to accommodate 15 delegates comfortably.

Rates

01 November 2011 to 30 April 2012 and 01 -31 October 2012:  R3300 per person per night.

Low Season rate apply for travel from 01 May 2011 to 30 September 2012: R2415 per person per night.
