Travel Tips: Safari Checklist

- Any Personal Medication
Please ensure you take the amounts relevant to your days of travel
- Binoculars
(Night vision binoculars are not essential but highly recommended if your Safari includes night activities)
- Bush Clothes
Neutral coloured (brown, tan, khaki, green, etc.), light-weight, comfortable clothes (please note that bright colours and white are not advised whilst on Safari); Gloves and Beany in Winter; Light rain gear for the rainy months.
- Camera and memory cards or film required for your trip

- Headware – caps and sun hats are necessary for Africa's harsh
climate
- Comfortable Walking Shoes
Well worn in to minimize discomfort. Running or Tennis Shoes are fine
- Formal Clothes
Should you be staying at prestigious city hotels or on luxury trains.
- Gym Clothes – should the property you are staying at offer
these facilities
- Insect Repellant
Examples: Tabard, Bayticol, Jungle Juice, Peaceful Sleep etc.
- Luggage labels for easier identification by accommodation and
porter staff
- Malaria Prophylactics and Preventative Measures are a necessity when

- Reference materials such as mammal and bird books relevant to
your special interest

- Small or reliable Torch for use during nocturnal hours

Should you be self driving during your journey a standard 12V car charger adapter can prove to be useful during long hours of travel
- Sunscreen and sunblock are highly recommended with minimum of 30SPF
protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Please also ensure the brand purchased
is of a superior and reputed standard.
- Good quality sunglasses which are preferably polarized
- Swimming gear or bathing suits are strongly recommended
- Passports, Visas, tickets and passes as well as foreign exchange
and other important documents
- Your mobile cell number whilst in South Africa – leave this
along with your itinerary with a friend at home
